What are fillers?
Most fillers are made from NASHA gel (non-animal stabilized hyaluronic acid). Hyaluronic acid is found naturally in your skin and other tissues. Hyaluronic acid plays an important role in giving volume to your skin, and thus contributing to its youthful appearance.

Lip filler results are temporary and last about 6 to 12 months. Periodic maintenance treatments can keep your lips looking their best.

Because the NASHA is produced by fermentation, there is no risk of transmitting diseases between species, or eliciting allergic reactions in clients who are sensitized to common foods, such as beef, chickens and eggs. They are acceptable to vegetarians. No skin testing is needed.
The sizes of the NASHA gel particles in fillers are custom tailored to match the tissue structures in the skin being treated. Nutrients, oxygen and hormones pass freely between the gel particles, maintaining the health and vitality of your skin. Since the body has its own system for absorbing hyaluronic acid, it slowly disappears over time without a trace.
What are JUVÉDERM treatments like?
The injections may prick a little, but no anesthetic is needed for the treatment of wrinkles and folds. Most people report that the injections are relatively painless. JUVÉDERM contains lidocaine for your comfort.
Recovery After Your Dermal Filler Treatment
After the treatment, some common injection-related reactions may occur, such as swelling, redness, pain, itching, discolouration, and tenderness at the injection site. These typically resolve spontaneously within one or two days after the injection. Other types of reactions are very rare, but about 1 in 4,000 treated clients have experienced localized allergic-like reactions. These reactions started about two to four weeks after the injection and lasted as long as two weeks.
What to avoid after your treatment
No significant downtime is needed after these injections. For optimal results, we recommend the following precautions for the first 24 to 48 hours:
- Don’t rub the injection sites.
- Keep pressure off treated areas.
- Avoid strenuous activities.
- Stay out of the sun.
- Do not drink alcohol.
Also, hold off getting a facial, massage, microdermabrasion, or waxing for about 2 weeks.

How do I know how much JUVÉDERM I’ll need?
The amount of filler needed depends on the areas you want improved and your individual needs. Our experienced injectors will give you an estimate during your free consultation.
Are dermal fillers better than BOTOX?
It depends on what you’d like to accomplish. In general, these treatments have different uses, although there is some overlap. Here’s what they are used for:
- BOTOX is an injectable treatment best for smoothing out dynamic wrinkles on the forehead and around the eyes that are caused by repeated facial muscle contractions.
- JUVÉDERM fillers are best for filling in folds around the mouth, hollows around the eyes, and sunken cheeks. We also use them to sculpt the lips, nose, and chin.
Can I combine injectables?
Yes! Our Soft Lift and LUMINA LIFT procedures combine BOTOX and JUVÉDERM to provide more extensive facial rejuvenation than either treatment on its own. These combination treatments are an excellent choice for people who are not ready for a surgical facelift.
Is the treatment painful?
JUVÉDERM fillers contain numbing medication to minimize discomfort during injection. We use short, fine needles for the injections, which make the treatments easier.
Which lasts longer, BOTOX or JUVÉDERM?
JUVÉDERM and other fillers’ results last longer than BOTOX’s results. Depending on the specific filler, results can last 6 to 24 months, while BOTOX typically lasts 3 to 4 months.
What happens when you stop using JUVÉDERM?
If you decide to stop getting filler injections, you’ll see the signs of age reappear. If you used fillers for a long period of time, the difference may be noticeable, but this isn’t caused by fillers; it’s simply the normal aging process that wasn’t visible before.
What age is best for fillers?
There really isn’t a right or wrong age to get filler injections. For example, some people inherit under eye bags and may get fillers in their 20s to enhance their appearance. Most people start getting fillers in their late 30s or 40s to minimize wrinkles and restore lost volume.
